Making a splash: With several water slides, a beach area and community events throughout the summer, Dale City's Waterworks park is more than just a neighborhood pool.
Dale City, Va., sits in Prince William County just beyond Woodbridge, about 25 or so miles from the big city of Washington, D.C.
According to the 2006-08 American Community Survey 3-Year Estimate, Dale City has a population of 62,567, a significant gain of more than 6,500 residents from the 2000 census. The renter in Dale City is well within commuting distance to many Northern Virginia towns, and even Washington, D.C., itself, though the commute is rather long. Sitting on I-95 helps with that.
Apartment renters in Dale City will have quite a few shopping centers to choose from, and better yet, they’ll be living right next to Woodbridge’s Potomac Mills, a huge outlet mall with such heavyweights as Neiman Marcus Last Call, Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet OFF 5th and Nordstrom Rack.
Dale City has a Prince William County Library branch, as well as a bunch of restaurants, churches and parks, including Greenwood Farm Park. It also has a farmer’s market that takes place Sundays from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and runs from April 4 to Nov. 21. What it’s also famous for – notwithstanding its volunteer fire department, which seems to have a big Web presence – is Waterworks WaterPark, which features multiple pools, slides, fountains and a beach area. Waterworks WaterPark is located in Andrew Leitch Park, another nice place where you can be yourself in Dale City.
