Renters looking for apartments in Landover Hills will find a quaint, quiet place to settle down near the city.
Like its similarly named cousin, Landover Hills is just miles from the Washington, D.C., border and edges U.S. Route 50 just inside the I-495 Capital Beltway, so commuting anywhere in the region is pretty easy. Throw in the fact that it sits between two WMATA Metrorail stops – the Landover and New Carrollton stations on the Orange line – and near a Maryland Transit Administration MARC train that takes you to D.C.’s Union Station, Baltimore and all points in between, and Landover Hills actually might have the upper hand in the battle of the two Landovers … just don’t tell its neighbor to the south.
The tiny town includes one park, the Landover Hills Neighborhood Park, but there’s always the Glenridge Recreation Center located across Annapolis Road just to the north (technically, in Riverdale). Both parks, featuring tennis courts, basketball courts and sports fields, offer respite from the busy urban milieu, and there is an abundance of trees to be found around town.
At just 0.3 square miles, Landover Hills is so small that there’s not much room for many businesses, though there is a Taco Bell, a hardware store and a Safeway. Chandler’s Medical Supply, a landmark drug store in the area, has stood for over 50 years.
But don’t let the dearth of retailers get you down. In Landover Hills, you’re literally minutes from several shopping malls and supermarkets, and trips into the greater metro area are easy due to all the commuting options highlighted above.
