Casting call: Perch, trout, bass and more can be found in the Severn River. Just make sure you bring your fishing license.
Millersville, Md., is a small town in Anne Arundel County that sits reasonably close to the region’s two metropolitan areas. If you’re looking for an apartment for rent near Millersville, you’ll find yourself within driving distance to Baltimore (19 miles) and Washington, D.C. (28 miles). While it’s true that a commute to either is a bit of a hike, particularly the capital, we feel that if you’re considering Millersville, you probably already know that and must have a car in good working order. It should be pointed out that you’ll be near at least one decent-sized town, Annapolis, so a 12-mile commute there is more than reasonable … and if you aren’t satisfied with that, tough!
Though the U.S. Census Bureau doesn’t have official population statistics for Millersville, one site puts it at 17,739. But that figure would seem to include a very wide swath of land surrounding the town.
Millersville is a good place to live if you like the water. The town sits about two miles from the Severn River — which empties into the Chesapeake Bay and provides opportunities for fishing and boating — and is crisscrossed by the river’s various offshoot creeks. And though it’s not known as a hotbed of commerce, art and education, the tiny town does have a Strayer University campus.
With Millersville, you get the best of both worlds: a chance to live in a rural setting while still close enough to nearby Annapolis to shop at Westfield Annapolis Shopping Center and Annapolis Towne Centre.
And really, who can resist a town with a street named Hog Farm Road?
