Undoubtedly, “Pasadena” conjures images of the California sun and the sounds of Jan & Dean’s “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena” (at least to me, it does).
Well, while I can’t give you Jan Berry or Dean Torrence, Pasadena, Md., in Anne Arundel County can give the renter a convenient place to live while commuting to Baltimore, which is about 15 miles to the north. Turn the car around to the southeast (mostly south), and you’ll find Annapolis sits just 11 miles away.
Better yet, if you’re looking for an apartment near Pasadena and want to take the train into Charm City’s Penn Station or even southwest to the nation’s capital, you can drive the 14 or so miles to Odenton’s MARC train stop.
In the 2000 census, Pasadena had a population of 12,093 residents. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy Lake Waterford Park, which offers 108 acres of natural fun. Along with namesake Lake Waterford, you can enjoy a game of tennis, basketball or softball. You can also go hiking on the park’s trails.
For shopping, there’s Shoppers Food & Pharmacy, Kmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Weis Markets. Plus, you’re literally right down the road from Marley Station, with Hanover’s Arundel Mills Mall and Annapolis’ Westfield Annapolis Shopping Center a short car-ride away for heavier hitting.
As you can see, Pasadena is a convenient place to live whether you work in Anne Arundel County or commute. And, even though it’s not in California, I’ll bet there are more than a few little old ladies who’ll blow your doors off at the stoplight … or not.
