Description

Named after a Scottish village, Annandale was a part of the Ravensworth plantation bought by Col. William Fitzhugh during the late 1600s. The land had passed through several generations and it wasn't until around 1830 before the Ravensworth name was no longer used and Annandale took its place.

Today, Annandale spans about 14 square miles of land and is situated along major roads such as Little River Turnpike, Backlick Rd, and Columbia Pike. Although Annandale is not an incorporated community in Fairfax County by the US Census Bureau, it is a census-designated place (CDP). Annandale is home to a number of parks -- the Wakefield Park and Recreation Center, Mason District Park and Green Spring Farm Park to name a few.
