Description
McLean is census-designated place (CDP), combining the areas known as Great Falls, Langley and Lewinsville. The community was named for John R. McLean, who was a publisher of the Washington Post and also a principal stockholder in Great Falls and Old Dominion Railroad in the 1900s. In 1910 the area was founded by the merging of Langley and Lewinsville.
A major landmark in McLean is the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). McLean is also home to major companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton, USA Today, Capital One and Mars Inc.
Local festivities include the Taste of McLean, the 18th Century Spring Market Fair, Fall Fun Fest, McLean Day, Reindog Parade and Holiday Tree Lighting. Nearby shopping is provided by the Tyson’s Corner Center and Tyson’s Galleria. Major throughways include the Capital Beltway, GW Parkway, I-66, Routes 123 and 193 and the Dulles Toll Road.

Fairfax County spans 399 square miles and is ranked as having one of the best school systems, police and fire departments in the Washington DC Metro Area.
