Why Spotsylvania County Could be Your Next Hometown

As one of the fastest growing counties in Virginia, Spotsylvania gives you the best of both worlds -- peaceful rural communities nestled between fine cities and urban amenities -- a wonderful alternative to live and work.

But wherever you are in the area, you're never far from rolling rural landscapes and incredible views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You're never far from Civil War history either. The National Park Service maintains more than 4,400 acres of Civil War battlefields in the county.

Several cities in Spotsylvania County include Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania, Snell and Thornburg. The biggest town is Fredericksburg, with fewer than 30,000 residents, is best known for its place in Civil War history. In its Old Town area are more than 100 shops, restaurants, and the downtown "Antique Row" near the river. On the other side of town, off Route 3, are the newly renovated Spotsylvania Town Center and Central Park Shopping region.

I-95 cuts through the heart of the county, providing convenient access to the DC area. As an alternative to driving, the VRE stops are easily accessible in Fredericksburg.
