Why Annapolis Could be Your Next Hometown
Known as "America's Sailing Capital" and the state capital of Maryland, you'd think that Annapolis would be as lively and bustling as other state capitals. However, Annapolis remains charming and picturesque with its panoramic views, history and architecture. Annapolis was named in honor of Princess Anne of Great Britain -- who became Queen of England, Ireland and Scotland -- it's name literally translates as "Anne's City."
The city lies right on the Severn River--providing a scenic waterfront view as well as a dock and harbor for ships, boats, yachts. Annapolis is filled with an abundance of culture, festivities, entertainment and dining. Annapolis is also home to the Saint Johns College, a private liberal arts college, which is the third oldest college in the US. Also, the US Naval Academy is a major employment institution as well as a point of interest--offering tours for visitors and residents alike.
During the Fall, Residents and visitors can enjoy the popular Maryland Seafood Festival. For those who are interested in music and the arts, Annapolis offers performances with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Annapolis Opera, Annapolis Chorale and the Ballet Theatre of Maryland.
