Why Camp Springs Could be Your Next Hometown
Camp Springs is a suburb located along Route 5 and the Capital Beltway. To the north are Hillcrest Heights, Suitland and Forestville. To the south and east is the Andrews Air Force Base. In the 1850s, a small church near Camp Springs was used as a sleeping quarter for Union troops. The area grew and became a base during the Civil War. This base called Camp Springs Army Air Field was later renamed as the Andrews Air Force Base.
Today, that church where soldiers slept is still in use on the base. With AAFB nearby, there are a number of tourist spots with museums and parks.
