Why Oxon Hill Could be Your Next Hometown

The village of Oxon Hill was named for a 17th century estate. Thomas Addison built Oxon Hill House in the mid 18th century; however, the estate was later burned in the late 1800s. The National Park Service oversees the actual Oxon Hill Farm.

Major points of interests include nearby Oxon Cove Park and the historic Civil War Fort Foote Park. History buffs and tourists can view Civil War cannons and earthworks at the park.

Nearby is also the National Harbor, a waterfront retail and residential development situated along the Potomac River. The National Harbor lies just across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, on the Maryland side. Here, residents can enjoy events hosted by the National Harbor. The multitude of resort hotels, shops, museums, restaurants and the marina provide residents and visitors with abundant entertainment and dining.
