Why Waldorf Could be Your Next Hometown

Although name Waldorf means "Village in the Woods", Waldorf is anything but. The area used to attract a lot of gamblers when gambling was abundant in the mid 1900s. Waldorf was known for their slot machines and night clubs. Today, Waldorf is a retail area and the home of the St. Charles Towne Center, which has a number of department stores, restaurants and a nearby movie theater.

Points of interest include the Cheltenham Wildlife Management Area, American Indian Cultural Center and the Samuel Mudd Home Museum--which showcases the life of the doctor who treated the leg of Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth.
