Dating back to the first English settlement in 1607, Virginia is full of history and heritage. Apartment renters can enjoy several preserved historical sites including battlefields, plantations, historic churches, and more. Virginia is also known for it state's slogan, "Virginia is for Lovers" which originated in 1969. The Virginia State Travel Service wanted to adopt a slogan that would bring in tourism and during the age of hippies, had though it appropriate. However, today the slogan means many different things. Perhaps most discover that Virginia has a lot to offer with its mountain landscapes, beaches, cities and of course, history.
