Why Annandale Could be Your Next Hometown
Annandale is home to a number of parks and recreational facilities -- Residents can enjoy taking a stroll at the Wakefield Park and Recreation Center, Mason District Park or Green Spring Farm Park. Nearby Little Run Shopping Center provides dining and retail options for visitors and locals alike.
Apartment renters and visitors also have access to Lake Accotink Park, which allows for picnic, golf, fishing and boating recreational activities. The park provides waterfowl and wildlife habitat with its 55 acre lake and wetlands.
Named after a Scottish village, Annandale was a part of the Ravensworth plantation bought by Col. William Fitzhugh during the late 1600s. The land had passed through several generations. It wasn't until around 1830 before the Ravensworth name was no longer used and Annandale took its place.
Annandale spans about 14 square miles of land, and is situated along major arteries such as I-495, Routes 50, 236, 260, and 244. Although Annandale is not an incorporated community within the Fairfax Co. by the US Census Bureau, it is a census-designated place (CDP).
