Centreville was first chartered in 1792 and today is a modern suburb that lies between Manassas, Fairfax and Chantilly. Centreville was named as one of the best towns for college-educated and working professionals to live in by CNNmoney in 2004. Several deciding factors for this were environment, financial, weather, travel and culture.
Centreville offers public transportation via Fairfax Connector buses as well as a Park & Ride facility for group or HOV commute. Automobile owners have easy access to major roads such as Route 66, 29, 28 and 7100, all major freeways providing access to many of the major employment areas.
Centreville is rich in culture and history. The area is home to the Sully Plantation, the Mt. Gilead House, the Old Stone Church and the Ox Hill Battlefield sites. The Sully Plantation was built in 1794 by Northern Virginia's first Congressional representative, Richard Bland Lee. While the historic Old Stone Church's cemetery contains a number of unknown graves dating back to the 1850s.
