Woodbridge is an diverse suburb spanning 10.8 square miles in Prince William County, 25 miles south of Washington DC. To the north, is the Occoquan River which the name comes from the Dogue Indian word meaning "at the end of the water." To the east is the Potomac River.

The most popular attraction in Woodbridge is the Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, which attracts a lot of shoppers from surrounding cities with over 200 discount brand-name outlets, stores and restaurants. The outlet mall also houses a renovated AMC Theater with theater seating. The Cannon Stadium is also located here, which hosts the Minor League Baseball Team, the Potomac Cannons.

The area is also home to the The Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge, which is maintained by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The refuge is a sanctuary for wildlife species such as bald eagles and ospreys as well as a number of butterfly species and plant life. The refuge offers visitors recreational options with hiking, bicycle and motor vehicle trails.

Woodbridge offers a multitude of transportation options with buses, local "slug" carpools, Amtrak train station and two VRE train stations. Commuters have easy access to Interstate 95.
