Living Room Makeover: Try These Easy Steps to Achieve Home Comfort
If want to make some changes in your home but are on a budget, or can’t make up your mind about what to do, try some minor adjustments in one room to see what works for you.
I would suggest starting with your living room because this is a room where people spend a lot of time. Plus, when you have guests over you can ask their opinion on the changes, which can give you some direction.
The easiest and most noticeable change would be to re-paint your living room, but this can be tricky. In some apartments, painting and other semi-permanent changes to the walls are not allowed. However, you do have options, like temporary wallpaper. This can make a big difference and really refresh the room. You can also add more art to your walls. Find some local artwork or frame pictures you already have from family vacations.

Re-arranging or painting your furniture is another great option. This can make your space feel completely different without having to add anything new! Also consider getting a mirror. A big mirror on the wall opposite your windows will reflect them and create the illusion of a bigger living room.
Vases with flowers and potted plants go a long way in making your room look green and earthy. On the other hand, if you want a cozy look, add more decorative pillows to your armchairs and sofa.
Finally, a patterned or colorful area rug can update a room, as can changing the curtains. Lighter curtains will let in more sunlight and make the room brighter and more joyful.

If you already have an area rug give it a nice cleaning- you’ll be surprised by how much of a difference this makes. CleanToPerfection SW15 suggests to sprinkle some baking soda on your carpet to deodorize it and then vacuum. If you’re really feeling ambitious, buy or rent a steam cleaner to get that deep clean. Then sprinkle a few drops of your favorite essential oil and it will smell amazing. The same can be done for your curtains.
Decluttering your living room is another key change to make. As you redecorate, get rid of old decorations that don’t complement and complete your living room décor. All those little knick-knacks may seem cute, but when you have a bunch they just look like clutter. Also, go through and put away the things you don’t use on a daily basis
