5 Yummy Summer Cocktail Concoctions for Your Residents

We all LOVE this time of the year because it gives us an excellent excuse to spoil our residents with some fun summer parties. However, we hate it because it is just so unbearably hot outside this year thanks to the “heat dome.” So, why not cool off with some ice cold beverages? Whether you’re trying to beat the heat by staying inside the cold air conditioned lobby or you’re having a pool party for your residents, these 5 yummy summer drinks are a surefire way to please everyone!

Blueberry Lime Cocktail

For those who lean more towards the sour side, these bitter blueberry flavors are guaranteed to make your cheeks pucker!

Blueberry Cocktail

1 tablespoon blueberries
juice from 1 fresh lime
2 oz vodka
2 oz Powell & Mahoney Lemon Sour Mix
2 oz seltzer water

In a cocktail shaker muddle lime juice and 5 blueberries using a muddler. Add vodka, lemon sour mix, seltzer water, and top with crushed ice. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into a standard whiskey glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with several blueberries and a lime wedge and serve.

The Rocket Layered Cocktail

4th of July may be over, but there’s always a good excuse to celebrate America all year round!

1/4 cup crushed ice
1/4 oz blue curaçao
1/2 cup crushed ice
1/4 oz vanilla vodka
1/2 oz vanilla vodka
5 raspberries

Mix 1/4 cup crushed ice with blue curaçao and in separate glass mix 1/2 cup crushed ice with the vanilla vodka. Gently scoop and layer the ice and vodka onto the items in the blue curaçao glass. In another glass mix 1/2 oz vanilla vodka with 5 raspberries and muddle them. Gently scoop the vodka and raspberries on top of the other layers and add a festive straw.

Citrus Sangria

Absolutely nothing is more refreshing than some zesty citrus to cool you off. Your guests will love this lemony sangria with bright orange flavors.

Citrus Sangria

1 lemon
1 orange
½ cup blueberries
1 (20 oz) can pineapple chunks in juice
1 (750 ml) bottle moscato wine
½ cup gin
4 cups ginger ale (diet or regular)

Slice the fruit into wedges. Cut some in rounds if you wish. Place the fruit in a large pitcher and pour the pineapple chunks and juice on top. Add the wine and gin and stir. Refrigerate the pitcher for an hour or until ready to serve. Make sure the ginger ale is also in the refrigerator so it is cold and add it right before serving. Add some chunks of fruit to each glass and serve.

Strawberry Cucumber Moscow Mule

The Moscow Mule is making a huge comeback when it comes to the mixology world. Make this cocktail to create a lot of buzz around this popular drink and get your residents talking!

Moscow Mule at Red Square by Nan Palmero
1.5 oz vodka
5 fresh strawberries
2 slices peeled cucumber
4-5 oz ginger beer
juice from 1/2 fresh lime
crushed ice

Muddle strawberries and cucumber with lime juice. Add the vodka and give a quick stir. Fill the glass about three quarters full of crushed ice and top with ginger beer. If you can’t get your hands on copper Moscow mule mugs then just serve in standard glass highball glasses and garnish with a cucumber slice.
