Alexandria Restaurant Week Offers Delicious Deals on Dinner

Yes, we’ve written about Restaurant Week Metro DC on this blog before, and now it’s time to do the same for gormandizers in the Alexandria area with Alexandria Restaurant Week.

Presented by the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association, this biannual event has its roots in January 2009, which coincided with the inauguration of the current president, so it’s no surprise that this winter’s edition that’s taking place from January 18-27 is named the Inaugural Edition.

As you can see, this edition is extra special because it lasts 10 days. The group highlights the fact that bookend presidents Obama and Washington have enjoyed eating the food of various Alexandria eateries over the years, and they want you to dig in, too.

More than 50 Alexandria restaurants will be on-hand to give the hungry apartment renter a chance at a great meal. Participating restaurants will offer either a $35 dinner for two, or a three-course prix fixe dinner for the same price. Their site gives you a way to look up which restaurant is offering which deal.

And some of these restaurants’ menus are also listed on the site when you click on the details tab in each listing. Note: Most participating restaurants do not include drinks with the meal.

I’m assuming that many of these deals will in fact be good deals (I’m naïve like that). Some of these places seem to be primo eateries, ones I would probably never venture out to unless a special occasion arose. Gadsby’s Tavern fits that bill rather nicely, and so does Phillips Flagship (which is in D.C., by the way). And to be complete, the other non-Alexandria restaurant participating is the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant.

Given the location, many of these restaurants should be Metro accessible (especially the ones in Old Town). Whatever you end up saving, going out on the town during Alexandria Restaurant Week is worth the price.
