Okay you dare devils out there, this one is for you. If you dream of thrills and crazy stunts then check out any of these extreme outdoor sports in DCMaryland, and Virginia to satisfy your thirst for adventure.





Obstacle Challenge – Based off of the original game-show obstacle course, ROC Race features larger than life courses with wrecking balls and the world’s largest inflatable slide. You can rally up your adventurous friends and coworkers for this 5K because it is team based.

Trapeze School– Learn to fly through the air with the New York Trapeze school in DC. You don’t have to be in the circus to be able to learn aerial tricks. Classes are offered for beginners of all ages.

Tough Mudders DC– You have probably heard about the tough mudders race or seen pictures of it on your timeline. This is an obstacle course race for the true outdoors man. From muddy pits, to carrying logs, and climbing impossible steeps. You and your team have to face it all.

Key Bridge Boathouse – This boathouse allows you to rent kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards to take out onto the Potomac River. While the waters in the area are calm, it is still a pretty nice adventure to embark on.

DC Boxing – Take classes and learn the techniques of professional boxers and mixed martial arts professionals. These instructors will make sure that you are not just a spectator. You can expect to be in the ring showing what you’ve got in no time.

Highland Aerosport Inc. – They provide hang gliding instruction, solo aerotows, and hang gliding equipment sales. No experience is necessary and the goal is to give everyone that is willing the adventure of a lifetime.

Earth Treks Trimonium Climbing Center – This is a community of climbers with multiple locations in the region. They provide instruction and even group classes. Each climbing gym is among the largest in the country with plenty of climbing space and variety for every ability level.

Autobahn Indoor Speed Racing – Speed lovers, get ready to experience this European style go-karting! This Howard County facility is about 70,000 square feet so you will have more than enough room to race your competitors. There are two tracks with italian professional karts that go up to 50 mph.

Route 40 Paintball –  Paintball is a high action team sport, the most basic games consist of two teams trying to eliminate the other. The park provides four different playing fields and they also offer a combination paintball/ capture the flag event.

Tandem Skydiving- Jumping out of a plane and plummeting down towards the Earth may not be your’re idea of a fun time. But for the adrenaline junkies out there, it is a prime afternoon. You will receive basic training and an instructor will be with you the entire time.

Sport Rock Climbing Center– This facility has indoor training centers that will get you prepared for the outdoor climbing experience. Members also take trips to Great Falls to put their learned skills to the real test.


  • Located at 5308 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria.


Richmond Ice Zone– This location allows you to get out your need for speed on the ice. It is an indoor facility so it is open year round. You can also take lessons from professional figure, speed skaters, and hockey players.

Appomattox River Canoe Launch– The area allows for boats, canoes, and kayaks. The site is the trail head for the Radcliff Conservation Area and enclosed 87 acres of woodlands.

Challenge Discovery– First founded in 1980, this location pioneers team building programs in Richmond and surrounding Virginia locations. Challenges include ropes courses, zip lines, and tightrope walking to name a few. All participants have to wear harnesses throughout their challenges to assure safety.

Kayak Richmond– Extreme kayaking conditions hard to maneuver. You need years of training to be able to make it out or a rough rapid alive. At Kayak Richmond you can work your way up to mastering this sport through group trips and lessons.

Hogback Mountain Paintball– The mountains provide the perfect environment for a paintball battle zone. You can rent out the facility for just you and your friends or check out their indoor aiming range.
