Make a Run for the Cure Next Month at the Monument
On June 2, all you D.C.-area runners and walkers out there (and even sleepers, it would seem) have a chance to ply your trade and help out the less fortunate by participating in the Komen Global Race for the Cure.
The site claims this 5K “is the premiere running event in the Metro area.” The name Susan G. Komen has become synonymous with fighting breast cancer. Komen battled the disease herself and provided the inspiration for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure charity.
There is even a Kids for the Cure race, where youngsters aged 5-12 can navigate their own short course.
There are all kinds of deadlines for event registration. If you haven’t yet registered online, we’re very sad to announce you won’t get your Event Kit in the mail. That pink-colored ship has sailed. You (and your kids) still have until May 30 by noon to register online though, but you’ll have to pick up your Event Kit at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill on May 31 or June 1.

However, you can still register in person on May 31 and June 1 at the same hotel. But being lazy pays off, as those who want to Sleep In for the Cure can still register online until June 1.
I could blather on and on about this event, but the site itself is very extensive, loaded with information. Here is their FAQ page for event particulars.
