Plan for a Spirited Saturday at Frederick’s Maryland Craft Beer Festival
Well, we highlighted a similar shindig on Presidents’ Day at Union Market near the H Street Corridor, and given how popular craft beer seems to be today – let alone in the spirit of reciprocity – we decided to let Maryland’s own beer snob celebration have some pub too.
The Maryland Craft Beer Festival takes place on Saturday, May 31, from noon to 6 p.m. at Carroll Creek Park in downtown Frederick (this includes the VIP hour from noon to 1 p.m., tickets for which, I’m chagrinned to say, have already been scarfed up like a cold Corona on a hot day).
There will be more than 25 Maryland brewing companies pouring 150-plus beers at the festival. People talk about supporting local, well, here’s your chance. Beer from any city, state or country can get you buzzed, so why not support your own state’s craft brewers?

Tickets include tasting tokens and a commemorative glass; once there, you can purchase additional tokens. There will also be food (of course) and live music on two stages.
What can you expect at the Maryland Craft Beer Festival? What do you think? Craft beer and lots of it. Beer aficionados should recognize some of the breweries that will be on hand: Raven Beer, Peabody Heights Brewery, Eastern Shore Brewing and Flying Dog Brewery are four of them. I’ve actually heard of that last one and have probably hoisted one of their brews.
For up-to-date festival information, check out their Facebook page. The festival is presented by the Brewers Association of Maryland.
If you haven’t heard, we think renting an apartment in Frederick is a heck of a good idea, and we’ve even listed five reasons why. So go out, get some sun and air, sample a bevy of beers, and check out all that downtown Frederick has to offer.
