Forestville: Attractive Community, Ideal Location

Basketball game

Like most D.C. suburbs, Forestville is blessed with a number of basketball and tennis courts.

Forestville, MD, is a triple threat for commuters in the metro area: It sits just miles outside of Washington, D.C., is near both the blue and green lines on the WMATA Metrorail, and is literally perched on the I-495 Capital Beltway.

Forestville is particularly convenient for those who work at Andrews Air Force Base, as the town sits just minutes from the 4,320-acre site. According to the 2000 census, Forestville has a population of 12,707, but like many towns in the metro region, it has an urban flavor.

Renters looking for apartments in Forestville will not have to go far to shop, as the Centre at Forestville offers many stores and restaurants such as a Target, JCPenney and Applebee’s. There is also Great Eastern Plaza. While technically in District Heights, Great Eastern Plaza is less than a mile away from the Centre at Forestville, and it houses a Giant Food, Big Lots and the Capital Sports Complex fitness center.

Finally, for you outdoor lovers, there are three small parks in Forestville. The largest space, South Forestville Park, features a playground for the kids as well as basketball and tennis courts for mom and dad.
